Is there a canonical package for animation effects like those provided in Compiz-extra's Animations? I'm talking about fire (on windows close), "beam up", etc.
I can't seem to find these in the debian sid repos. Thanks |

I do not believe such animations exist at all for kwin. There is also currently no system for official effects that are not part of the default effects packages with KDE SC, there is only the default set and then 3 or 4 unofficial effects distributed individually.

Any plans to develop a port of these effects? Or is there a hurt-free way to use Compiz as compositer for KDE? Or is the integration very sucky?
Thanks |

There is a way. I don't use it personally, so I can't say how well it works. There are efforts underway to standardize the desktop effect systems so they work consistently. You can always try it and see.
Go to system settings/personal settings -> Default Applications -> Window Manager -> Use a Different Window Manager and select "Compiz" (or something like that) if it isn't selected automatically. You can submit an idea to brainstorm listing the specific animations you wish to see added. This isn't strictly how we want things to work but in this case I think an exception is warranted since one animation per idea would flood the brainstorm. Others might disagree with me, though.
