Hello!
I'm using Debian Sid 64bit, KDE 4.5.3 and fglrx 10.9 drivers. ATI HD 4570 512MB. I've used "-graphicssystem raster" parameter to plasma-desktop, which improved somewhat the performance, especially when resizing and dragging around widgets. However, minimizing/restoring windows with Minimize Animation enabled is still very laggy (fps normally around 80, drops to ~20), there is always a second of delay before every new opened window is fully drawn and this happens even when desktop effects are disabled. For comparison, Compiz works smoothly with no less than 100 fps in any occasion. Any tips? Thanks in advance! |

What do you use to measure these FPS? I hope not the kwin and compiz effects as they are both just returning wrong information.

Well, I do... :S
KWin still looks laggy when FPS drops down. I've disabled oxygen effects and it performs a bit faster now. |

Have you tried the free radeon drivers yet? If they support your hardware it is likely that they perform way better.

Actually with 'radeon' KWin is slower on my configuration :/
Anyway, it's still much faster with Oxygen animations disabled. |

I'm using Debian Sid, KDE 4.5.3, ATI HD2600 256MB, libdrm ddx mesa from git, liquorix kernel. Disabled blur, vsync, etc. Everything is fine here.
