Prevent plasma to create containment for my second X screen

Hi,
I'm using Plasma Desktop 4.5.1 from Kubuntu Maverick.

I've configured xorg to have 2 different screens, something like this:

Section "ServerLayout"
Identifier "Main Layout"
Screen 0 "Desktop" 0 0
Screen 1 "TV" 2000 0
EndSection

My first screen resolution is actually 1440x900, but i used 2000 0 as the origin for the second screen because I want the mouse trapped in the first. The second screen (1024x768 resolution) is used only to display a MythTV interface, controlled by a remote.

The problem is the following:

with this configuration Plasma at startup creates a default desktop containment for the second screen, with a resolution of 1024x768 and the default Ethais wallpaper. Unfortunately this desktop containment is shown _above_ the main desktop containment, as if the origin of the second containment was 0 0 and not 2000 0 as it should be.
Clicking on the desktop _outside_ the Ethais wallpaper make the second containment disappear (as if it lost focus and go behind).

The question is: is there a way to prevent Plasma to create the desktop containment for the second X Screen? I don't care to have Plasma in that screen, because there I have only icewm+mythtvfrontend.

Thank you very much!
Augu

Updated to 4.5.4 from Kubuntu Updates. Same behavior. :( I'll send a bug report on bko.

I resurrect this very old post because I'm still interested in finding a solution:

I have the same X setup as the first post, but now I'm using KDE SC 4.9.4. What I want is to prevent Plasma/KWin to extend on my second screen.

I know, usually with this setup it's a feature to have your desktop automatically expanded in the two screens, but in my case I use the second Screen (actually a LCD 40'' TV) just to display mythtv frontend and I don't want to have Plasma or Kwin there.
For example sometimes when I press ALT-TAB the task switcher appears in the second screen (TV) and not on my main monitor.

I'm not sure if this is actually possible, but i'll move this to the KWin forum so the KWin developers can answer for the KWin half of it in any case.

It's not possible to prevent KWin/Plasma to extend into the second screen. But there are several workarounds available:
  • Use a multi-head setup, that is run a separate X-Server on each of the screen
  • Use window rules to prevent any window except mythtv to go to the second screen (requires 4.9)
  • Use KWin scripting to achieve the same as 2 (requires also 4.9)

In addition for 2 and 3 there are some useful options available like modifying Alt+Tab to only show windows of the currently active screen.
