Hello, i have installed Kubuntu Hardy Heron (=8.04) and want to use a program (which is already installed) on a desktop pc.
"lspci | grep vga" says: Intel Corporation 82865G Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 02) I tested that program on UBUNTU Hardy Heron (a notebook, nvidia geforce, propietary driver) and it worked so far. But in Kubuntu there is something wrong with the displaying/rendering. Some pixel aren't shown and the color in a special area is much lighter than it is on the Ubuntu notebook (on Ubuntu it works so far and the pixel are displayed). There is an option for drawing but when i draw e.g. with dark green it is drawn with pink. Could that be a problem with the X-Server, OpenGl or KWin? Could a new driver from Intel help? From the PPA there are no packages for Hardy any more: So i looked to compile the new driver from scratch but someone told me that these are not for Hardy: I am online with Linux Lucid and the pc where i have installed Kubuntu (with that problem) is not here, so i cannot answer immediately to your further questions. I have read that using the manufacturer's native driver could help, because this option is supposed NOT to be set by default when Kubuntu is installed. note: i MUST use Hardy Heron because i want to use two usb cameras whose (old) drivers only work until Hardy Heron. Thanks. |

Have you tried disabling Desktop Effects?

KDE's KWin has integrated Desktop Effects in the KDE 4.x series. It can be configured from System Settings > Desktop Effects.

I have KDE 3 (version 3.4 or 3.5 i think). Because of this there are no desktop effects on my pc, right?
