Title says it all :D

I decided that I want a dock really bad, and so started using docky (fancy tasks just wasn't doing it). It works great but I have noticed that Kwin's blur effect is not applied to it. Is there any way to fix this?

KWin can only apply it's Blur effect to those windows which are using ARGB visuals, and have set an Alpha channel of less than 100% I believe.

I am pretty sure docky uses argb. It has a SVG transparent background, and it required compositing to even work right. I know that with compiz I can get a blur, but I seem to remember hearing somewhere that kwin will only apply blur to the apps that "ask" for blur. I therefore assume that docky doesn't ask. Is there a way (maybe a patch or something I could apply to the code) to get it to use the blur?

You'll probably need to ask the KWin developers what steps an application needs to take to request Blur be enabled for them. I believe it uses X hints to do so. The KWin developers can be contacted on their mailing list, kwin@kde.org
