Hello!
I have an issue that when an application crashes during logout, KDE isn't able to shut down because of a bug report dialog is opened and refuses to disappear. I believe this is kdebugdialog, but I am not sure. It is the window saying "We're sorry, application xxx just crashed". What I tried to fix this so far: Disabling debug output completely in kdebugdialog for root and user. Even uninstalling kdebugdialog didn't work. Gentoo, which I use has a mechanism called injecting packages, where you can uninstall a package and pretend it is still installed. So... what can be done here? Isn't there a program called kcrashreport or something like that? I think that program should be changed to be a bit less disgusting... |

This is intended behaviour of the system, the functionality of which is not provided by kdebugdialog (which is used to control the status of debugging output). You are looking for DrKonqi, however do be aware that various KDE applications may issue out warnings or potentially refuse to start if DrKonqi cannot be found.
If an applications crashes on logout/shutdown then you should file a bug report against the application assuming you are running the latest stable version of KDE (or Trunk if it persists for several days)

Well, I cannot easily fill out a bug report, because kdebugdialogs output is always empty. I compiled Gentoo generally with the -debug option.
Also I hate it when my computer tells me what to do. It should and will be vice versa here Main problem with this dialogue is that it prevents the system from automatic, unattended shutdown with tool like kshutdown. Bad. At least there should be a "Do not ask again for this application" button. I uninstalled both drkonqi and kdebugdialog, without any negative effects so far. |
