When switching a video to fullscreen on any website with any browser, the image freezes but the video still playing on background - this only happens on fullscreen, if I change apps the preview window of the player as the video running.

If I disable KWin effects videos, it all works just fine.

I tried to search for a solution everywhere with no sucess so if anyone as a solution I apreciated some feedback.

Thank you.

I faced similar issues earlier when I first installed Kubuntu 11.04x64 and the above link is my efforts to deal with it. I haven't experienced any problems since implementing the suggested fixes (only recently megavideo.com is the only site that seems to be giving me similar fullscreen playback issues since they've update their embedded player).

1. Install flash-aid extension: remove your current version to flash and install the correct version for your hardware architecture (x86 or x64)
2. Suspend desktop effects for fullscreen apps: uncheck "suspend desktop effects for fullscreen windows" in SystemSettings>Desktop effects>Advanced tab.
3. (Optional) Turn-of hardware acceleration for videoplayback = go to youtube.com, play any video at the site, right-click on a video, settings, uncheck "enable hardware acceleration" under Display tab
4. (Optional) You can also try creating a window rule specific to stop kwin from activating its focus prevention rules for flash apps as suggested by Zorael at ubuntuforums.org:
This is KWin's focus stealing prevention being a bit aggressive...

You can make a window rule to fix this problem. I've been preparing a patch to suggest to the Kubuntu guys for inclusion into the kde-window-manager package that would install this rule by default, but I'm still polishing it. As it is right now, it probably only works with the native 32-bit and native 64-bit Flash...

Since the repository Flash plugin is the 32-bit plugin wrapped in NSPluginWrapper to work in 64-bit browsers, the window title and window class is probably npviewer.bin instead of exe. If the above doesn't work, try changing it to that. The final catch-all rule should probably have a value like exe|npviewer.bin in both the Window title and Window class fields, with their accompanying Match settings set to Regular Expression.

You can get the needed information by entering the following a terminal, then hopping to a browser and start some Flash content in fullscreen, and finally click the Flash content when the cursor changes after 10 seconds.
Code: Select all
$ sleep 10; xwininfo

The terminal output should list the window information KWin needs to match the rule with the window...

The first two suggestions was all I needed to implement to fix my fullscreen flash issues. I hope this helps you fix your problems.
