Broken Update Maverick?

Fri May 06, 2011 9:48 am
I was using Lycid Lynx, when I decided to upgrade to Maverick Meerkat. However, after the upgrade I opened the KPackageKit and scanned for updates, found them and applied for installation. These however, installed about maybe 12 % (the system told me that OpenOffice is to be replaced with LibreOffice, that was one of the many new changes in the version)and then in requested restart. After it, however, I was unable to log in to the desktop, as first, it took 10 seconds for the system to recognize my mouse, and second I am unable to use the keyboard, as it doesn`t recognize it either!

Is that a broken update and if it is how can I fix it?

My laptop is HP 530 NOTEBOOK PC.

You might be better to post over at kubuntu forums, as this problem is distro-specific.

The forum is down at the moment, though.

if you get to a terminal (ctrl-alt-f1 keystroke), you can try to fix it by:

sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
