Hello,
I'm experiencing the issue well described in this topic: viewtopic.php?f=66&t=85772
My problem is the following: - with the compositing disabled for fullscreen windows, any "graphical" event like a mouse move or an application notify causes the screen to flicker. During video playback this is really annoying. - with the compositing enabled for fullscreen windows the video isn't smooth enough and this is quite noticeable when there are fast sequences. Now, I have an nVidia GTS450 with the nVidia proprietary drivers so I don't think I lack GPU power or driver support, so this is actually a problem. Any suggestion on how to fix this? |

Did you enable "Suspend desktop effects for full screen windows" in System Settings > Desktop Effects > Advanced?
The flickering with compositing disabled is probably not the fault of KDE. Which video player are you using?

Ok, actually I'm experiencing the problem with VLC and Totem, but not with Dragon Player. Maybe it's an issue linked to GTK apps?
I experience the flickering with compositing enabled and the "Suspend desktop effects for full screen windows" option enabled. So the problem is the "transition" from the fullscreen to the normal mode, I think.

Which Phonon backend do you have selected in System Settings? I suspect you probably have GStreamer selected. VLC probably causes the flicker when it's popup which allows you to change playing position/stop/etc hides.
