I remember the first time I installed KDE (around June-11) something like this, but it sort of fixed itself until a few days ago I was messing around with plasma themes and the shadows came back. But your workaround worked for me, though I don't know if this is temporal, but for now I' happy. :)

And yes, at first I didn't know how to edit the file, haha, so I decided to try with Kate. :D

Anyway, too bad it still happens to you. I hope, if this is a bug, it gets fixed soon, because it really is annoying (to me, at least). :-\

and SVG's are amazing... they are xml based and u can still see them like pictures and edit them lake code :D adobe can blow the soup with their "adobe illustrator" that can work with own files only .ai haha :D i don't hate mictrosoft like most people... i hate the damn adobe :D
