Hello.
I have two desktops. My english is not good enought to explain it, so:
While I'm working on :0.0, if I press alt+tab to change to another window, it make effect in :0.1. Sometimes, rarely, it works OK, but I can't tell why. I just compiled kwin from kdebase-workspace-4.6.5 from then debian unstable repositories, but it behaves the same. Please help. |

It may be worth checking if with a newer version (4.7.x) the problem is still there, as I can't reproduce it at the moment (however, I need an explicit click on the second monitor to make the window switcher appear there).

Thanks for replying.
I removed all kde related packages and compiled those: kde-baseapps-4.7.3 kdelibs-4.7.3 kde-runtime-4.7.3 kde-workspace-4.7.3 It behaves in the same way. Also created a new user and renamed /etc/kde4, but it is still the same. More information: Alt+F2 seems to work always, but if I call it from :0.0 and then close it with ESC, the focus moves to :0.1 With focus in :0.1, alt+tab doesn't work at all. If I kill the second kwin process, all works ok in :0.0, the killed process remains as "defunct". That trick allows me to use kwin. Thanks again. EDIT: I don't think that will matter, but I used "-DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr". EDIT2: That can be important: When pressing alt+tab in :0.0, it shows "No windows" message in :0.1, even if there are windows in both :0.0 and :0.1. Just now noticed that DISPLAY=:0 in :0.0, but it is ok in :0.1 ! ! ! |

It may be worth filing a bug to bugs.kde.org. If you do, please provide full details of your configuration and detailed description on how to reproduce the problem.

I can confirm this behavior on my system as well. I have a very similar setup to yours, dual head with separate X servers for each. I also have the KDE Multihead setting disabled as this interferes with Screen1's use as a media center display. Basically followed the instructions in the Gentoo Wiki-
http://en.gentoo-wiki.com/wiki/X.Org/Dual_Monitors/KDE My xorg looks like this:
Had no idea what was going on for months until I noticed "No windows" displayed at DISPLAY=":0.1" whether DISPLAY=":0.0" had focus or not. It's like KWin does not know at all which screen it should be switching tasks on in this configuration. Did you make a bug report asdffdsa4? If so could you link to it here? |
