With the high use of cloud storage services amongst everyone like Google Drive, Drop Box and other popular services emerging. One beautiful thing about all of these services is that that all typically emulate the typical read, write, and query the properties of a file. With this duly noted, clients for each of these services could be provided and used by KDE's file management system like Dolphin, Gwenview and reKonq, making everyone happy ;)

I've considered taking the liberty on working on this during this week when I can. I'll update this forum post with a link to the code built out.

APIs in reference:
https://www.dropbox.com/developers/reference/api - For Dropbox
https://developers.google.com/drive/ - For Google Drive

The basis of the client is done thanks to this awesome Wiki document over at the KDE Techbase - http://techbase.kde.org/Development/Tut ... ello_World

I'll target Google Drive first, since I'm a big user of that service.
The beginnings of this client is available at https://github.com/jalcine/kio-googledrive.
By Friday, I might have a PPA set up just for the purpose of having this being installed on a system, would love help though!

Thanks! How would I go about giving this idea more visibility?

I would open a bug addressed to / talk to the dolphin/kio people and see if you can get it merged into the official source rather than 3rd-party code. The best way towards visibility is implementation :) I'm sure then you might be able to get a blog post out on the planet about it.

When you do so, please update this thread so that I can keep tabs on it :)
