Would love if KDE had the inbuilt capability to be a upnp media server so I could stream music and video to all my media devices. Maybe have a plasmoid to do this?

man, i really have some experience with upnp servers and clients. as a server, use mediatomb or something that runs in the background, nice, quiet and using nearly no resources. Don't make the same mistake as MS with the mediaplayer 11 and inflate a player with a upnp-server.
Thats why: the server has to re-read the media files from time to time. If your mediaplayer does that, you end up with a player that uses a lot of cpu and hdd when you start it and is instable when you have a lot of files to look for. amarok is a good player, but it always sucks when it tries to read my whole music collection. I don't want it to! I want it to play not to do database-games. It should have a upnp client module, thats for sure, but please do not make it more instable than it already is by adding a server!

They are already working on this.

TheBlackCat can you tell us more about it. Where the code is, any blog that mentioned this or what is the name?
