OK yes we have InkScape and Krita, but I would like to have a specialized app for creating plasma themes.
I "created" a theme myself, even though I started from another theme (Naked) and just went to extreme I still had few difficulties making it. In first version the lover panel didn't work if it was extended over entire desktop. And even now with almost complete theme I still don't know how to make few stuff what to change to get things to look as I want them. What does colors section do exactly and how to get the colour that I want. So instead of trying to get things right in InkScape (I tried Krita and I felt really lost in it) it would be really cool if there would be a app just for making new theme. Like DeKorator was in KDE3 for windows theming. So instead of adding bunch of rectnagles and id-inig then and classing them you would have options to add panel, clock and any other plasmoid to theme it. And I would also like to see that this app would somehow incorporate preview. I konw that that probably means running whole plasma inside of an app which could be a memory hog, but it would still be nice. As now even if you change your theme and use it as your plasma theme you have to chage to another theme and back or restart plasma to see the results. And also this app would bring plasma theming to the masses , so anyone would be able to make their own theme from scratch (not from other theme like I did ).

Btw, Krita is for raster images (like Gimp) and Karbon14 is for vector images (like InkScape). So don't use the wrong tool

Oh didn't knew that! Is Karbon14 better than InkScape or not?

InkScape is more advanced - it can compete in many areas with Windows pro-tools such as CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator.

They already work on this. It's called Plasmate IIRC. It's for creating themes and plasmoids.

I just read it and it seems more like an widget development tool not plasma theme. But I might be wrong. I would like to see this app or at least some mock-ups. I hope it becomse what we wish and what I proposed in this idea.

Unfortunately PlasMate is not Plasma creator, but plasmoid creator. Which is cool, but not what I wished.
I wish a simple way of creating plasma theme. I got this info from Google's Summer of Code KDE site: http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Summer ... deas#Ideas It's interesting read

I think that DeKorator will be ported to KDE4 to provide this.
