I'd like to have names from address book automatically avaible as tags in nepomuk, so we could associate files to people.
This way, I could associate some files I'm working with the name of friends or colleagues, and easily group and send them these files. It could be useful also with photos: we could tag some photo with the name of a friend in our address book, and see/access all these photos in his/her entry in the address book. regards gerlos

We are in fact working on that.
Making PIM data available to Nepomuk is also important, almost crucial, for search, e.g. "find all email from any attendee of an event in my calendar". Cheers, _

Great! The possible applications are almost infinite, I can't wait to see them realized! regards gerlos

Though merely associating files to people/whatever by means of tags is not "semantic desktop" enough in my opinion. The relation should also be clear, which can be accomplished by utilizing the RDF framework.
For example I could tag a photo with a name but this is meaningless because I (or more importantly the machine!) do not know if the photo was taken, does show or was sent to me by this person. |

This would be _really_ powerful in combination with facebook - imagine auto-generating a group in your address book with all the people being tagged on the photos of your last party

A related idea : Spell checking could use entries from the adressbook so that it won't underline names/cities... when I type them

Yeah this would be really cool - especially because it would show you misspelling of names...
