A function that I think would be useful for krunner is a multi-function world clock runner. It would have basic functions, like showing the current time, but could also show the current time in other time zones, as well as translate given times between time zones.
Below is a description of how I would design such a runner. If someone decides to make this, they can do the specifics however they want. The details below are just a suggestion. So for basic usage you would just type the trigger word (which would probably be customizable, lets assume it is "time" by default). So to get the current local time, you just type "time" (no quotes). If you want to get the time in another time zone, say UCT, you type "time in UCT". You could also translate specific times to other time zones. For instance "8:00 am in GMT" (another name for UCT) would give the time in the GMT time zone when it is 8:00 am at your local time zone. "16:00 GMT" or "16:00 GMT in local" would both give the local time when it is 16:00 (4 pm) in the GMT time zone. You could also specify cities that are present in your system's time zone database. So for instance you could type "1 pm Hong Kong in New York" to find out what time it is in New York when it is 1 pm in Hong Kong. It can also do time difference calculations. So "1 pm in New York to 5 am in Hong Kong" would tell you how much time elapsed between the two period. As a convention, if you don't specific a time zone it assumes you mean local time. The times would be fairly flexible, 4 pm, 4:00 pm, 16, 16:00, and 1600 would all be considered the same time. "in", "to", and "from" can be used to specify which is the target and which is the destination time zone. So "a to b", "a in b", and "b from a" are all the same (note that a and b switch places in the last case).
Man is the lowest-cost, 150-pound, nonlinear, all-purpose computer system which can be mass-produced by unskilled labor.

As Aaron Seigo wrote in is last As Aaron Seigo wrote in is last Blog entry, he's writing such a Runner, he's writing such a Runner.
So this Idea could be moved to In development. |
