Hi all,
Amarok supports MPRIS, the Media Player Remote Interfacing Specification. This allows for example the "Now playing" applet to read the current track and playback position from Amarok (or any other player supporting the MPRIS protocol), and set the volume and such. From what I see, MPRIS does currently work only on the local system. What if I want to control an Amarok instance running on my media center from my notebook (or my N810)? It would be nice if MPRIS could work in the network.

What do you plan to use it for? Network transparency for plasma widgets is already being done in a GSOC project, which will allow you to remotely control any media player plasma supports.

What about media players and devices not running KDE applications?
