Agreed, the devs have tried to make gtk apps look at home, and have succeeded to some extent. I suggest a theme that not only looks beautiful, but merges well with other apps and is different from oxygen.

QtCurve is an attempt to do this.
Also, gtk engines have been improving quite considerably.
