Hi there,
I hope this is a new idea. I really would like to control korganizer with krunner. E.g. when I think about something I have to do it is really annoying to start contact, switch to the tasks add it, choose a category and a date... I hope this can be done with Krunner in the future. Have a new task (or todo? Dont know which word is used in the english kde):
Adds a task in category private which should be done until 6pm that day. I think it would be really nice to have the possibily to "describe" dates (i.e. "today", "tomorrow", "in 3 days") as you can see in Remember the milk. This should be done for dates too. Or adding contacts... Would be great to do all that with the keyboard. |

+1 for this! Actually for those who have used RememberTheMilk.com they would know the pleasure of supporting very vague statements, eg: lunch with bob on thursday - that will automatically add the event "Lunch" on this coming thursday and add Bob to the attendees list if they exist.
This should in the future integrated with the contacts too!

This is already implemented for KDE SC 4.4. I'm running the RC 1, and if I put 'yur' into krunner I am offered a KMail composer window for a message to yuri, his address record, and some other things that refer to him. When KMail and KOrganizer are fully integrated into Akonadi and Nepomuk, even more will be available. For the moment, though KAddressBook is the first part to be more or less complete.

It's not implemented! This idea is about korganiser and organising events and todos. The contacts was a comment by anoneemouse and me on _further_ integration, which as far as I know is also not yet implemented (unless I can go "add bob bob@email.com +60312345667") What this represents is a natural text way of interacting with this PIM data.

After reading this idea i tried to implement something like it, you may get sources for testing at:
http://github.com/alno/plasma-runner-events Or, you can use package plasma-runner-events from my PPA: https://launchpad.net/~alexey-noskov/+archive/kde It's in very early stage of development, but it works with some simple use cases, for example: "event Meeting with friend; today 12:30" - create new event, starting today at 12:30 "todo Improve runner plugin; tomorrow" - create new task for tomorrow About specifying date and time - now it's possible to use words "now", "today", "tomorrow" and "yesterday". |

Filching ideas, huh ^^ In fact I mentioned that in the last paragraph already @alno: Great to hear that. I'll give it a try soon. By the way: I think "today" optional, as far it should be the default value: event Meeting;12:30 = event Meeting, today 12:30. Then some dynamic descriptions would be really usefull, something like event Meeting;in %d hours/days/weeks/months. In the future we could think about some more complex descriptions. I'm dreaming of something like event Maths;each [odd/even/3rd] monday [for 1 year]. I think this interpreter could be a programme on it's own |

I was, of course, replying to anoneemouse. What exactly do you want to add bob to? This 'natural way' you speak of needs some clarification. KAddressBook, in 4.4, can work with Akonadi and Nepomuk. None of the other PIM apps are yet ready. The team have been working on this for 3-4 years, to get this far. Anyone that thinks they can knock up the functionality in a weekend is welcome to try.

Regarding to the topic I am sure he wants to add Bob with mail address and telephone number to KAddressBook. Of course "add" is not definite enough as a keyword for that.
Who said he can? And what do you mean with Akonadi? Nobody said that this feature should be implemented before this critical port to Akonadi. This is only brainstorming I think. And if somebody has time and joy to implement this feature for todays non-Akonadi storage I don't see a problem. |

Yes, it's default behavior.
Ok, i implemented it. You may use something like 'in 5 hours' or in 'in 3 months from tomorrow'.
Yes, it will be useful to control recurrency and category this way... I'l try to implement in future. I created page on kde-apps for it: http://www.kde-apps.org/content/show.php?content=118854 |
