Yes, I know it sounds weird, but I'm thinking on a very common user case here: a netbook without dvd drive with a Linux system that needs to be upgraded.
Up to now (and not considering a couple of new tiny apps that offers a user interface for this) you need to dd the iso image into the usb stick. dd is a dangerous command so, why not use the user friendly and very well know k3b to "burn" the iso image on the usb stick? If you select an iso image to be burned, and plug a big enough usb key, k3b should offer the later as destination media. What do you think?

This is planned, I think for 2.1 although it may or may not make it by then.

Well, here we are in 2016 and you still can't "burn" ISOs to USB drives with k3b.
Meanwhile, the vast majority of laptops no longer have optical drives. |

This is a great idea, especially as usb iso's are quite often the preferred install method now. I know there are other apps that can do this now but I don't think there is a KDE one.

Just in case:
There is the Fedora Media Writer, which burns ISOs bootable on a stick. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_c ... e_Live_USB |

How's the progress on ROSA Image Writer? I went to the homepage and noticed:
"Mac OS X 10.11 El Capitan and later versions are not supported: because of API changes, the program cannot enumerate the USB devices. We'll try to add support of this version later." which is unfortunate since (aside from Linux) I mainly run Mac and don't have an old version - but I suppose I can always run it in a Linux VM? Haven't tried yet. |

I'm quite new of Ubuntu... I'm using Ubuntu 14.04 and what I want is to burn a Windows ISO image on a USB Flash Drive. Now, using the default Startup Disk Creator, seems that it doesn't recognize ISO images different from Ubuntu (or at least, I try to select the Windows ISO but nothing really happens). Then I've installed K3b but, Tell The Bell, this time the problem is that it seems to not recognize media different from a CD. I'm sure that there's a way to do it with K3b and I'm just missing it. Anybody can help me?

i'd love to have this in k3b, since it's my goto app for anything that is an image file.
of all the choices/options in this thread, am i correct that there are none in the repositories? does this require having a PPA? thanks |
