This would be an option to automatically snap widgets to a defined grid when organizing the desktop.
Generally, grid-spaces would probably be ~ 100px x 100px, with some leeway calculated to make the grid fit the resolution of the screen. Because widgets have pre-defined sizes already, it would probably just round up the size of the widget to fit the size of current grid-squares. Holding shift when moving could break a widget from the grid. Overall, taking a cue from Android could help better-align widgets and keep things looking uniform.

I really like this idea, perhaps even add the jellybeans-introduced features where widgets/plasmoids shift location on the fly to allow fitting of a new plasmoid (but then it would need a way to throw away the plasmoid without missing up the layout...hmmm)

Isn't this what the Grid desktop (activity) is supposed to achieve?
imo, that should be the default over the free-form desktop, as I would imagine that more often people will care about getting things aligned than be bothered by the restrictions imposed by the grid.

Hi guys!
Seems like you are all very into computers and whatever is in relation to that topic. I was searching for a forum like this one and I'm so happy to have run into it. I wasn't sure which processor I should buy for my computer (since it is really slow) and would have apreciated some help in that field. Now that I know this forum I will ask you for further questions. Anyhow, I found this site (it is in German but can easily be translated to English with google translate or DeepL) : https://www.technikhiwi.de/prozessor-test/ if you are looking for some information about processors for computers or laptops you can check the article. hope it will be helpful for you. have a nice day! |
