tag disc number in Amarok

Wed Apr 25, 2012 9:40 am
Hi,

I have tagged my mp3 using amarok. There is a possibility enter a disc number withis edit meta data dialogue if the album consists of more than one disc. Now I tried to import my mp3 collection to a upnp server (mediatomb). To be able to respects disc numbers in mediatombs virtual containers I added id3 tag TPOS (part of set) that (as far as I know) should be the disc number. But it seems that it's not. Field is empty in the files that I have tagged using amarok. So my question is: what is the name of the id3 tag where amarok stores the disc number that can be entered in edit meta data dialogue.

Thanks for your help.

Best regards

My guess, after examining some of my own files, is that your UPnP server is failing to read ID3v2.4 tags correctly. Could you inspect the tags on the problematic files with something that can definitely read ID3v2.4 such as mid3v2 to verify this? mid3v2 -l somefile.mp3 should do it. Note that tools which cannot read ID3v2.4, such as id3v2, will report that no id3v2 tag is present. Basic metadata will still be read from the ID3v1 tags.
