I've been a fan of amarok for the past six months or so. A few days ago I changed my os from ubuntu 10.10 to linux mint 12. One of the first apps I tried to install was amarok but have not had any success. I've tried installing from a command line and throught the software center. The software in the sofware center is cleary corrupted because I can't click on it. Installing from a command line gives a number of dependency errors. Each of those library files I tried to install through synaptics but that was a no go. Is there any chance amarok is going to fix this problem for linux mint users?

Please speak to your distribution packagers about this problem. If the packagers need help from the Amarok developers, they will get in touch.
The way it works is that when there is a release, our developers create a tarball and tell the distro packagers that it is available. The distro then packages the new release, tests and then releases it to users. Amarok developers do not create distribution packages directly. |

Valorie, I understand this but, if this is the case, why would the software be available in the repository for linux mint or even show up if it isn't available?

It's possible that your package cache is somehow corrupted, in which case you'd need to ask in Mint's support forums/IRC channel/etc if a simple apt-get update doesn't fix it. Or the package may actively be broken, in which case you need to ask the Mint packagers what's going on. We have no control over or information about the packaging for any individual distro.

Thanks Friend. I think the package is broken and I have posted a request for help on Linux Mint's forum boards.
