Hi,
for a while now, "Resume Playback" hasn't worked as it should (yes, it's enabled). Rather than remembering where I was in the track that I was listening to when I quit Amarok, the track is just restarted when next I start the program. This, I believe, started several months ago after a version bump, but it's been too long to remember. Anyways, now it's started bugging me sufficiently enough to where I will finally start trying to fix it. Which is why I'm writing this. Is this a known problem? Can I do anything about it? This glitch can be annoying. The versions: Amarok 2.5.0, Qt 4.8.1, Gstreamer 4.6.0 on openSUSE 12.1/KDE 4.8.3 Thanks a lot! |

Is the behaviour different with the VLC backend for Phonon?

Thank you for your speedy reply.
With VLC, the position is remembered, but there is a problem with playback. When I start Amarok, the icons imply that it is playing, but the position marker is at 0 and no playback takes place. Pushing the playback buttons only changes the button status, but nothing about the playback. Only when I double-click on the song in the playlist will playback be resumed - and from the position last remembered. Why are these backends acting up this way? Does anybody else struggle with this? Thanks. |

Do you have some special setups changed like the single-click default set to double click in KDE?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Nothing that comes to mind. Definitely not the single-click behavior.

Very strange. I can't reproduce this here at all, using current Amarok 2.5-git and the vlc backend 0.5.0

I will try to upgrade to phonon-backend-vlc 0.5.0 tonight or whenever the openSUSE servers are online again. If I can find a package... Currently I am using 0.4.1 from Packman. You'll hear from me. Thanks so far.

I can reproduce with current git Amarok, Phonon, PGST and PVLC. With gst, playback resumes from the beginning of a song; with VLC the timestamp is remembered but it's stuck in a non-playing state. Make sure you have resume playback on start selected in the settings. |

Thank you, Sentynel. Resume playback is definitely checked in the settings.
phonon-backend-vlc 0.5.0git (which is the only newer version I could find) does not work at all, and sets back VLC from 2.0 to a 1.x version. I switched back to Gstreamer. The gstreamer backend package is at 4.6.0, which seems to be recent (at least in openSUSE). Are there any logs or terminal outputs that I can/should check? |
