only thing I did maybe relevant is that I removed a package libavformat53 (as there were no longer any providers nor rpm dependencies) but libavformat52 and libavformat52 are still installed

The problem is known, caused by ffmpeg again. A fix is already in the reviewboard.

For future reference, the important part of the error log is at the top - "/home/smiley/MyTemp/amarok/src/musicbrainz/MusicDNSAudioDecoder.cpp:139:122: error: ‘av_open_input_file’ was not declared in this scope". This was only removed in ffmpeg's latest release 0.11, which has libavformat version 54, so I suspect you have a libavformat package which contains the latest version or a libavformat54 package installed.

Anyway, a fix for this has been committed; please try building again.
