Amarok doesn't play internet streams

Wed Aug 15, 2012 10:25 am
Hi, everybody!
By now I can't play any streamings in Amarok:
1. When I add any stream it's highlighted as unreachable (light-gray)
2. When I double click on the channel, it starts playing but when track changes Amarok doesn't update track data.
3. When I click "Next" next channels are skipped as inaccessbile, e.g. next playing media is a track stored locally.
4. I tried to clear Amarok data in ~.kde/share/apps/amarok - no results! It even didn't clear playlists with my streaming and when I added my local music folder again it notified about listed tags are already present in collection. It looks, Amarok stores its data somewhere else, but I failed to find where.

Does anybody know how to fix all these? Or, at least, where Amarok stores its data?

Could you please start with telling us which Amarok version, KDE version and distribution you use?
Also the Phonon backend and it's version is important to know.

FWIW: the configuration files are in $HOME/.kde/share/config/

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks for your reply.
My system config:
Linux Kubuntu 12.04 x86_64
Amarok 2.5.0
KDE 4.8.4
Phonon backend: VLC

I deleted them and restarted Amarok. No results...
It started rescan my music folder again, and at the end output the error:
The collection scanner reported the following errors:
Track ~/Music/Blind Guardian/07 - The Bard's Song - In The Forest.MP3 with uid amarok-sqltrackuid://d34184571bdc2e2a46c1e5e2e5d7df53 already committed. There seems to be a duplicate uid.

How about some patience to start with?

If you search the forum you would have found that easily, it has been told numerous times.
You already erased those by erasing $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/, something you shouldn't do as you loose the database and all statistics as well.

Which you can safely ignore, you just have a duplicate track there.

Now back to the streams: did you check that the server is actually online? Streams can only play if the server is accessible. Also you didn't tell what streams this is about, could you please give an example?

When I removed the folder my playlists were still preserved! It means, Amarok stores its data somewhere else - that's why I were asking about!

I stored playlist and opened it in VLC player. All the streams are playing great!
Some stream samples:

By now, I'm looking where amarok stores its data.

Both these streams play fine with Amarok 2.6 but the track change is indeed not updated, using the phonon-backend-vlc 0.6.0. This might be related to this bug: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=274771

And again, Amarok doesn't store it's data elsewhere than $HOME/.kde/share/apps/amarok/, check the various subfolders for playlist, the current playlist is in current.xspf. Of course if you use an external MySQL server then your data might be elsewhere, but that is something you would have configured yourself then.

Amarok will find playlist files on disk within your defined collection locations, so if they're saved there then removing Amarok's data folder isn't going to do anything.
