First of all, I have to say that I really like Amarok and hope that this issue is caused by my lack of knowledge because I would like to continue to use this application.
Distro is in Mint 13 KDE. Looks like this is a semi-common issue.. Anyway, I can play thought my headset in VLC, Kaffeine and others. I do have the headset set as default sound card, and this has been proven to work by detatching and reattaching during sound play, with positive results (in Kaffeine) Amarok is looking good when I fire it up, until I hit play, and I get this message in the lower right of my screen. I can open Phonon, and try to override the change (or click on the white button that shows up in the above message), but I have no luck in that. Amarok seems to only want to play through my speakers. This program is really nice, I am pretty frustrated because I don't want to look elsewhere because of the program. With Amarok, I can pretend I know all the lyrics to my favorite songs and impress my kids/friends. Phonon setup: This second Phonon pic, I am trying to show that this is how I have it setup before the use of Amarok. The two LOV(s) where I have selected the headset are immediately changed over to the internal soundcard. This may or may not be a problem. In addition to my problem, I decided to do some more smart stuff last night, and I told the OS to "forget" about the headset, now under the first phonon pic, I have some additional lines added showing more "hardware" but it is named stuff like "a." and so on, I woud like to remove those, but am unaware of the file I need to modify to do so. Any help would be much appreciated, I love this program. |

Could you please also tell which versions of Amarok and Phonon this is about?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Unfortunately, I do not have this machine in front of me at this point in time(it is at home). I am looking around for what is released with the Mint 13 install, but that will not give a 100% positive answer as to what is sitting on my machine right now. It looks like the release comes with Amarok 2.5.0. The Phonon version is a little harder to find as far as release information I have come across. As soon as I get home from work, I will provide you with your requested information.
I did immediately run an update, which proceeded to d/l 480 files(!), so there is a possibility that this has since changed. Thank you. |

Does changing the Device Preferences for the top level (or all categories even) have any impact?
Also, which Phonon backend is in use? (You can find this out at System Settings > Multimedia > Phonon > Backends).
