Stage 1 was simply to plug this in after all my old MP3 plays (USB device) worked so this running Android should too. Well Amarok recognised it and showed "Nexus 7" in the "Local Collection" but trying to send music failed.
Dolphin just really didn't see it. Saw earlier thread about different mtp libraries so installed some of these. After reboot I can now send files to the Nexus but files are all placed in the root music folder on the Nexus and since I do have files with the same name (same song, different recording) this really won't work. Mind you I only tried one or two albums just to test. So how can I get Amarok to send files (and retrieve from) the Nexus and put files sent into directories (artist/album) and ideally send over the cover art that Windows really doesn't seem to get right (actually the Nexus does much better but is often used off-net so a new album may not get art unless I send it). Also how to transcode FLAC files to mp3 as I "export" them. If I import Amarok offers transcoding. Thanks for any guidance that means I can stay in Linux more as that's where I like to "live". |

Not sure about Amarok itself, but a MTP KIO Slave has been created which will allow Dolphin to access MTP based devices such as Android smartphones and tablets. However the KIO MTP Slave is currently in playground, so it will only be available to you if your distribution packages it and you install it.
Prior to KDE 4.10 you will need to access it manually, by browsing to mtp:/ as a URL however. KDE 4.10 will include functionality to list MTP devices in the Places panel.
