Multiple Entries for a Single Album

Fri Dec 14, 2012 4:51 pm
So I finally got my music library fixed up after transferring it to a new rig. I'm loving Amarok, still, but I can't quite figure this one out. I fixed the tags so all the featured artists are in the title tag and not the artist tag (iPods are a nuisance if you don't do this), but now I can't figure out why I have multiple entries for the same album. I noticed two songs with the same featured artist are grouped together. Also, the albums in question were first categorized under "Various Artists."

Any thoughts, ideas, or help is appreciated. :) Thanks!

Which Amarok version?
Are the tags set correctly in the Artist and Album Artist fields?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Version 2.3.1. I don't see an album artist tag in Amarok. Is there a plug-in to expand on the current tags? Everything else is tagged correctly.

Oh my, 2.3.1 is very heavily outdated, that is about 3 years old now. I strongly suggest you upgrade to Amarok 2.6, released in August. Everything prior to 2.6 is not supported anymore.

FWIW: we just released 2.7 beta today and plan on releasing 2.7 final for Christmas.

Oh, well then... that explains a bit. :< I just did an upgrade from Lenny to Squeeze and assumed everything had updated properly. Silly me, making assumptions and junk. :P Thanks.

Well bugger, running the current stable build of Debian means that I'd have to get the backport of Amarok as well as KDE. I like Debian, but as an audiophile this does not sit well with me at all.
