Amarok is invisible.

Thu Jun 06, 2013 6:48 pm
I am using amarok version 2:2.6.0-0ubuntu2, on mint 14 kde. When I try to play any music file with amarok, the song starts playing, but nothing shows up on the screen. I can control some aspects with the hotkeys on the keyboard(play, stop, etc), but nothing happens visually. When I try to run amarok from the start menu, the computer thinks about it for a few seconds, then does nothing. There are no error messages or anything, and songs play fine, just no UI at all.

First of all, your Amarok version is rather outdated, you should get version 2.7.1 ASAP. You should be able to get it from the Kubuntu updates PPA.
Then: did you check it is not just sitting in the SystemTray?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

In the system tray!? How did someone so condescending end up with the title of manager? This version came with the 2nd release of mint 14, so it is fairly new. New enough to work at least.

Sorry if that did sound condescending to you, but Amarok 2.6 is really old now, we are about to release version 2.8. If I suggested you get 2.7.1 that was because it carries important bug fixes.
Since Amarok does play the tracks, but you don't see the GUI, then it is most likely minimized and you should see the wolf logo in the SystemTray (usually on the right side of the panel).
