You probably just don't have all the gstreamer codecs installed that you need. Please make sure you only use the codecs for the gstreamer version you have installed.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

I didn't say lib, I said codec. Just look for gstreamer plugin in your package manager.

mudlark:
- you get the exact same message as original poster? - you using the gstreamer backend? if so you are probably missing a gstreamer plugin package, probably the one named gstreamer0.10-fluendo-mp3 or similar if its mp3's you are trying to play |

Hi, Exactly the same message. I'm using gstreamer backend. I'm trying to play flac files and amarok worked fine until recently. Unfortunately I can't tell you when or after which upgrade this issue started. I've changed to the vlc backend and amarok works fine. m |

Hi,
I've sorted out what I have done wrong. The problem was caused by the "file type options" of a shortcut having changed to amarok rather than dolphin. I am pretty sure that I have caused this problem by trying to play folders with music files within. (If that make sense). Right clicking a folder and "open with" amarok or something similar. This issue is causing incorrect diagnosis of the problem by amarok. If anyone agrees with this analysis I will post the issue with amarok. NOTE : Subsequently unable to recreate this problem.

mbnoimi - you need to update you post so people are aware, I'd just assumed it was working after not hearing back
things to try: - will they play in Dragon Player? as it uses Phonon backend it will help pinpoint cause - does Amarok play them with VLC back end - again pinpoint cause also, 2.6 is an old version 2.7 is current and 2.8 is in beta could you update |
