Duplicate item issues

Fri Jun 28, 2013 5:11 pm
Amarok 2.7.0 on KDE 4.10.3.

I have been cleaning up a fairly large music collection. I used Amorok mostly and EasyTags for some of the work as it was "easier." I know find that Amarok declares I have several items that are duplicate or failed the SQL query. In most cases the items no longer exist. They were deleted or renamed to correct problems. Even if I do a full scan they persist. They still appear in the various albums in Amarok as duplicates, even the ones that don't actually exist. When I attempt to edit track details they are greyed out and trying to delete them does nothing. Is there a command I do to force the database to re-sync with the actual files?

Where are those located? Do the tracks still exist in a Trash folder maybe?

I also strongly suggest you upgrade to Amarok 2.7.1 as it has some important bugfixes.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

When I do the full scan it indicates that there are two tracks that are duplicates, but the message shows two different names in the same folder in my music collection. When I check, there are those two files, but they are not the same name. In some cases I even get a full duplicate album shown in Amarok under genre/artist/album, but when I try to edit the track data in one of them it is all greyed out as well. The messages about query failure I can't really figure out. I can clip and post one if it will help.

They are not in my trash, I had cleared that several times during my clean-up process. I did make a copy of my music directory before messing around with it, but it's in another area of the file system. They copies in the save area are not referenced in the file names when I look at track details.

I did go looking for 2.7.1, but I'm not very good at compiling and I could only find a 2.7.0 under the Kubuntu repositories. I did install the backports repository and still only 2.7.0 shows up.

The 2.7.1 package is in the Kubuntu updates PPA since quite some time.

As for the files: apparently those are the same tracks, your files just have different names. You can check that by playing those from the Files Browser.

I finally managed to get the correct ppa installed and Amarok is now 2.7.1. I did a full rescan and the only error shown was this:

GREPME MySQLe query failed! (1062) Duplicate entry '1-./home/****/Music/Tenerife Players/MananasdeCarnival.mp3' for key 'urls_id_rpath' on UPDATE LOW_PRIORITY urls SET deviceid=1, rpath='./home/****/Music/Tenerife Players/MananasdeCarnival.mp3', directory=1544, uniqueid='amarok-sqltrackuid://948ffc87359db15a06c8e7f86fd37465' WHERE id=11889;

There is only 1 occurence of this file in my Music directory. I checked in the left panel of Amarok and I still have duplicate entries in the list, genre/artist/album order. Some individual tracks and some full albums. One copy is always greyed out when I do an "Edit Track Details." If I try to move that track to trash it does nothing. No error message and no removal. Something obviously got screwed up between the database and the actual files. If i delete the database and rebuild I will lose a lot of details about the music, correct?

Will it "mess up" the Amarok database to use EasyTag on the same files?[bug][/bug]
