Last.fm settings not saved

Wed Jul 10, 2013 1:12 am
Hello World,

I've been running Amarok on Debian for a few years, and have decided to try another distro. I wipe the drive and install OpenSuse. OpenSuse comes with Amarok vers 2.7.0 and KDE 4.10..3 "release 1".

When configuring last.fm in the plugins section, I enter my username/password click test and get a success. When I quit Amarok or reboot, Amarok starts playing on startup as configured, but I have to re-enter my username/password for Last.fm. All my settings are saved except the Last.fm settings.

Is this a known issue, have I missed something, or maybe a planetary alignment thing? ;)

Cheers,
R.

It should already be solved in 2.7.1, but certainly is in 2.8 beta. In any case, you should upgrade your Amarok version :)

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks Mamarok, it's mostly working now. ;)

I switched distro's again, now running Chakra, it came with 2.7.1. Conf'd Amarok, and when I clicked ok on the settings tab, it asked to open KWallet. Conf'd Kwallet, and on every restart Amarok wouldn't start until I entered the password into KWallet. That's kinda like the original problem, having to give a password vice logging in every time.

I figured out how to set the password to blank in KWallet, now Amarok behaves as I think it should. Can Amarok be "told" not to use KWallet? :)

The scrobbling is doing weird things on the Last.fm site now, it shows all the songs played yesterday, but only shows the current song I'm listening to today. When the song changes, the previous song disappears and the current replaces it. Any thoughts on this?

Cheers,
R.

Last.fm changed their API rather silently, this is fixed in Amarok 2.8 beta. See also https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=320219
