I'm trying to find tracks where I haven't set the album artist. I tried to use albumartist:="", but this filter includes tracks where album artist is not empty.

There is no possibility to filter for empty tags as far as I know, that would have to be added to the filter function first.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Okay, thanks. How would you recommend I go about doing this kind of thing then? If I use another program to modify the tags, will Amarok deal with this in a correct way (i.e. still see them as the same files)? For example, I could use Nightingale to search for the tracks with no album artist, then put a unique string in the comments, then search for this string in Amarok.
Also, is it worth filing a bug report/feature request for this? Cheers. ==EDIT== Oh, I just found something called kid3 in KDE. I guess this is a better option than Nightingale, but I just wanted to check that Amarok will work okay with this, before potential data loss. |

Yes, Amarok will read the id3 tags without problems. There are also Puddletag and Easytag as tag editors, and there is Picard which uses Musicbrainz for the tags.
Just make sure you use UTF8 encoding everywhere, as for some strange reason some taggers use the obsolete ISO encoding as default and that should be avoided as it can cause bad character recognition for non-latin characters. So checking the settings of the tagger before the actual tagging is highly recommended, as well as making sure your LOCALE values are set to UTF as well.

Thanks, I found kid3 a bit unintuitive, so I tried Puddletag, which worked well, as did Amarok.
I've submitted a feature request here. |
