Various Artists filing is inconsistent

Hi, it's me again!

My compilation albums have album artist = "Various Artists". However, amarok seems to treat these inconsistently. I'd like for amarok to know that they are all compilations, so that the individual artists are shown for each track in the left pane. However, amarok puts some of them in this category (i.e. at the beginning of the list), and others in the artist known as "Various Artists".

The documentation states that
Tracks that have the compilation flag set or an album artist other than "various artists" will be placed in an album.

so presumably those with "Various Artist" as album artist should be treated as compilations. I don't see this, at least in some cases.

Alternatively, I've tried to add various flags, such as compilation = 0 (as per the link above), or partofcompilation = "Yes". The former never works, and the latter doesn't work for ID3v2 tags. However, the latter works for MP3 tags (I don't even know what those are), if I toggle it.

Is there an easy way to make Amarok realise that they are compilations? N.B. I don't want to use the built in way, because that will clear album artist, which is incorrect, and also interferes with usage of other programs.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

I can see how the first affects my query, although I'm not sure that the second link is relevant to this?

In any case, is there any workaround that works right now that can allow correct filing under Various Artists, while leaving the Album Artist field non-empty?

==EDIT==

Okay, I found one. itunescompilationflag = 1 works fine. Odd, because compilation = 0 and compilation = 1 don't work.

P.S. I feel dirty using this particular flag. :o
