Hi
When transferring music onto the micro SD card in my new android phone the files and folders are placed in the root of the card. How can I create a music folder on the SD card and have Amarok place the files and folders there? And then hopefully have my phone recognise it as the music folder. Android 4.0.3 HTCSense 4.0 Amarok 2.8.0 Windows 7 Thanks Reluctant windows user with first smartphone - Doug |

Hi,
MTP (Android) support in Amarok is being rewritten by me this summer, the work will be merged into master really soon and shipped with Amarok 2.9 sometime in winter. Unfortunately, this work currently targets only Unix-like systems because hardware access on Windows is totally different. But I wonder: 1. Do you plug in just the SD card to your computer, or do you connect it "though" your Phone? 2. How does the card show up in Amarok? If you mouse-over the collection, do you see a little wrench button? |

The topic is marked as solved, can you confirm this is intentional?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Good on you strohel and thanks for your work.
I connected the card through my phone, ie. plugged my phone into my laptop. I marked this as solved as it started to work for me after some time. In the first 24 hours I re-tried and turned off and on again repeatedly, but right clicking and selecting 'Activate this Collection' or pressing the green arrow displayed by the disk name did nothing. Eventually I was able to activate it, and then had access to the wrench button and the option I was looking for. It hasn't been perfect, and has since put my music on the root of the card 1 time while showing it in my collection within Amarok. I also now sometimes receive little pop up error messages in Amarok such as: Could not rename partial file C:/Users/lenovo/AppData/Roaming/Amarok/tmp-LENOVO-PC/amarokJa2792.pls. Please check permissions. But this doesn't seem to stop me from using anything. Edit - this version of Amarok is new to me, the error messages may be unrelated to the phone issue. |
