Hello,

since today (no update that I could relate to Amarok or mp3 playback) Amarok plays some (all MP3s from one album so far) extreme loud and extremely distorted.

Volume adaption in Amarok is off. The files playback fine mit VLC, mplayer and gst-play-1.0

Arch Linux
Amarok 2.8.0 / KDE 4.14.4
gstreamer 1.4.5 / gstreamer0.10 0.10.36
Backend is GStreamer / pulseaudio.

VLC metadata information shows that the file is Mono, though having high bitrate.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Florian

No replay gain? Did you check with the vlc backend as well?

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

No replay gain (Einstellungen -> Lautstärkeanpassung -> Aus).

Just installed the VLC backend. Problem has vanished.

Then the problem is with the gstreamer backend, please file a bug against it.
