Hello!
This may be a very basic question but I need some help: I have subscribed to a few podcasts on gPodder and activated the gPodder plugin in Amarok. In my personal files, a gPodder folder appeared, which contains all the episodes I have downloaded. No mistake so far, I suppose. Is there a way to automatically sync this folder with my iPod collection, i. e. add all new episodes and delete the ones I have played? (Will gPodder know which ones I have played if I only sync my iPod through Amarok?) So far, I only found out how to manually add every episode to the collection, but surely, that's not the best Amarok can do? Also, is there a way to make the iPod recognise the episodes as podcasts and treat them accordingly (display them in the podcast section, remember my position, skip while on shuffle etc.)? When I add them manually, they are treated by the iPod as music files by unknown artists, which makes it very difficult to find them. Thank you very much for your help! (Ubuntu 14.04 - MATE 1.8.2 // Amarok 2.8.0 // gPodder 3.8.4 // iPod nano 5G) |

I don't know enough about iPods to really answer you, Podcasts should work, but did doubt it is possible to sync for the last position, even on gPodder. Since Amarok uses libgpod to handle iPods, this might be documented in their website: http://www.gtkpod.org/wiki/Libgpod
As for adding complete subscriptions, did you try to sync your iPod through gPodder instead of doing so through Amarok?

FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Strangely, some podcasts are recognised and treated as podcasts, while others are not. I subscribes to all of them through their respective rss feed, so I don't know what might be the difference between them. Do you have any idea what I could do? As for gPodder, I would love to try that, but so far, I haven't managed to connect my iPod. I keep getting the message "cannot open device", although I set the device type on iPod in the preferences. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I don't know what. Ideas welcome! |

As far as I know gPodder only works with jailbroken iPods, not sure you want to do that.

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I might try that if everything else fails. But before that, back to my initial question: Is it correct that with Amarok, it is not possible to sync the "gPodder downloads" folder automatically? So far, the best solution I have found is to select the whole folder and add it to the device - if the episodes are already on it, it will tell me so and not add them again; the ones I have finished listening to will have to be deleted manually. Is that true? If there is a more comfortable way, I would be very happy to learn how to do it.
Thank you so much for your time! |
