do they play if you switch to the VLC Phonon backend?
I'm guessing there something wrong with your gstreamer setup, would suggest you make sure all the gstreamer and Amarok packages are from the Packman repo |

i changed 8 gstreamer packages to packman repo , i'll restart session to see if this helps.
about vlc phonon backend : what's the difference between these ? the 1st one installed does not appear in system config for a vlc phonon backend option. The 2d one ( phonon-backend-vlc ) did allow to change the backend to phonon vlc. I then can see the podcast playing but can't hear the sound. (Youtube sound plays ok in firefox) I'll try to go back to gstreamer now. *edit * : it did not work with gstreamer . ANd if ko i'll try to erase cache as mentioned above. *edit * : If i rename the cache and gstreamer hidden files to .old it still does not help with gstreamer backend.

I presume you checked all your pulseaudio channels to see if anything is muted?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Hello
if you mean using a tool such as pavucontrol i did check it, if there's another way please tell me how. With gstreamer backend i can't play neither podcast nor other titles, they 're not read at all. With vlc backend i can see the podcast being played but i can't hear anything. Surprisingly vlc backend is installed but i can't see it available anymore in system settings, it was there this morning though ... hopefully i saw it after a session reboot but still no sound. alsamixer shows sound on in 2 channels : master and capture.

if i want to launch kmix from konsole i have an error :
> kmix QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave. QDBusConnection: session D-Bus connection created before QCoreApplication. Application may misbehave.
i have it available from the bottom panel though, all the mixers are displayed. i'll look if i can see something with vlc backend, for with gstreamer i can't even load the podcast, thus no stream is displayed. *edit* : i can't see anyhting being played from kmix , even in pavucontrol, but the podcast is played in amarok , i see time evolving but cant' hear anything. i tried clementine and it says that something is missing with gstreamer

in kmixer, in playback streams do you see an Amarok pulsesink probe?
fwiw I have 79 "gstreamer" packages installed based on "name and summary" when searching for "gstreamer" in Yast, 61 of those is from the Packman repo - seems excessive but that's what shows in Yast have you in the repo tab clicked "switch system packages to the verrsions in this repository (Packman)"? |

when the VLC Phon backend is being used does either Kaffeine or Dragonplayer function?
Iirc you never said that music doesn't play in Amarok just podcasts, correct? |

about packman : i think there were some updates for some 80 packages were downloaded.
in system settings / hardware/multimedia / sound and video / motor tab : i have vlc backend before gstreamer. Then kaffeine plays ok an lp i have (Randy described eternity from Built to Spill). dargonplayer is not loading media (?) i almost never used dragonplayer before.
with gstreamer backend : Podcasts are not loaded, neither played. do you want me to try with music too ? *edit * : music does not load and isn't played. with vlc backend : Podcasts are loaded, played, but i can't hear them. Same for music it seems : It's loaded and played , but i can't hear any sound (dinosaur Jr here for a test from the collection)
