Last.fm Authentication Failed

Mon Apr 11, 2016 4:03 pm
Hello,

I just noticed that my amarok is no longer scrobbling to the last.fm site.
Login credentials are correct.
Running amarok on debug mode, and reading .xsession-errors both show:
Code: Select all
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<lfm status="failed">
  <error code="3">Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package</error>
</lfm>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<lfm status="failed">
  <error code="3">Invalid Method - No method with that name in this package</error>
</lfm>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<lfm status="failed">
  <error code="4">Authentication Failed - You do not have permissions to access the service</error>
</lfm>

When I write my credentials in the plugin configuration, a "Failed" message appears on the button.
OS: Debian stretch
Amarok: 2.8.0
Playing mp3 file
Phonon backend
liblastfm1: 1.0.9-1

Any idea how to solve this bug?

Thank you in advance!

Re: Last.fm Authentication Failed  Topic is solved

if the credentials you enter give you a "failed" message, then something is wrong in the credentials. Scrobbling works fine here with both amarok 2.8.90 and 2.8.0, with both the liblastfm 1.0.8 and 1.0.9 libraries for me, so maybe check if you don't have a typo somewhere.

Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ...

Thanks Mamarok for the honourable reply ;)

In fact it was both a typo and it was not a typo!
I've solved the issue by changing my Last.fm's password.
It was quite strange that the same password worked perfectly fine for the web-login and was declined by the liblastfm client.
The API problems they've been announcing lately must have messed my password(s) up...
