I get the following message when Amarok finished collection scanning:

It turns out that no matter which directory in my collection I choose, it throws this error, so nothing gets scanned. What is wrong? I'm using Amarok 2.8 on a brand new Kubuntu 16.04 installation.

Okay, I really don't have a clue what happened, but apparently something in my backup or restore process altered the 'modified' date to somewhere in Febuary 2106, some 90 years into the future, which I didn't notice the first time I checked. Using touch * and touch */* fixed it... Quite bizarre.

You are not alone/mad...I just got this exact same error after ripping a new CD using Dolphin's audioCD support. Look at this directory:

Notice how all but one directory is dated Feb 7 2106 just as you found (these were all ripped last week). I'm not sure why one directory is OK, I might have manipulated it by hand. As you noted, a bit of "touch" action and all is well...
