Hello,
I just upgraded from Fedora 24 to 26 today, and I have faced the perennial problem: Upon bootup, my Amarok will not play mp3 or m4a files. Fast forward an hour or two later, and I'm in a maze of twisty little codecs, all alike. This time I got it going thanks to a little help from easyLife. In any event, I have discovered that the following packages are necessary. Is there any way to tell which library file is necessary to play a particular filetype? Then I can decide which packages are truly necessary. Thanks.

The best to ask for that is actually your distribution, we do not handle this at all, it entirely depends on the distribution, especially when it comes to patent encumbered plugins. Just make sure you have the plugins for the gstreamer 1.x version, as the 0.10-x version is pretty much obsolete.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
