Hello everbody,
Amarok uses 2% of my CPU even if it has stopped playing and is minimized. How can this be? Is this the normal behaviour? Best regards, Thomas |

I tried a few other players. They do not use resources when idle.
I even disabled all services, scripts etc. ... still 2 % of CPU is used. Is it the same for you guys? |

I think this is normal behavior, did you really disable all actions of Amarok, including the collection update?
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |

Did you disable the Analyzer as well?

I have unchecked every single box under "Local Collection" and "Metadata" and "Notifications" and "Modules" and "Scripts" and "General" and "Local Collection" and "Play" and "Databank" ...
I mean, I have unchecked every box in all of the Settings-window. |

The Analyzer is in the middle pane, you can disable it at the bottom of that pane. Mind you, 2% CPU is really not a great deal...

Thank you Mamarok,
you lead me indeed to the solution. I had just closed the whole middle pane. Just as the left and right pane too. But the analyzer seems to somehow still run in the back if you do this. So I had to open the middle pane again. Close the analyzer first and then close the middle pane. I think it would be a good idea, to make the analyzer close automatically, if the middle pane is closed. Btw, 2% cpu doesn't seem much, but I have a pretty strong machine ... imagine an old one. And secondly, I run my Player nonstop in the background all day long, just in case I want to hear something ... so it doesn't need to start then. So my recommendation would be good for our mother planet too ... |

Hm, I see some obvious contradiction here...
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11

But that contradiction is not, that I am running my Player nonstop in the background and also care for mother earth, is it? Because now I am using VLC and it doesn't use any resources when idle in the background. This is just amaroks bug. To bad, I had to leave amarok because of this. So what contradiction do you see then? |
