Really love this music player, and have been enjoying it for many years. Just built a Ubuntu 20.04 machine in an attempt to solve some sound hardware issues, and cannot fins aa PPA to get the Amarok package from as it is no longer in the Ubuntu repository
Can someone please give me a pointer. Thanks, and also thank you very much for all the hard work on such a great piece of software. |

Amarok was removed as it is still based on the old KDE libraries, long deprecated now.
viewtopic.php?f=115&t=165698 There is work on a Qt5/ Plasma 5 based version. The above link does show a PPA one can use to get an alpha version of it There is also another PPA that is a bit more recent https://launchpad.net/~joe-yasi/+archiv ... marok-kde5 Not sure which is 'better' here.

I really appreciate your taking the time to reply to this.
FYI, I did download the one from the 2nd PPA. It starts up and complains that the database is not set up. I understand that it no longer uses SQLite, and now uses MariaDB Next issue there dose not seem to be an install candidate for this!. I am about to conclude that Ubuntu 20.04 is completely unusable! . |

Amarok has not used SQLite in over 10 years now, the embedded database is the default since version 2.0
As for "install candidate": the embedded mariadb package is a default in the Ubuntu repositories, maybe you lack some sources? Make sure to enable the "universe" ressources, not just the "main" ones. Of course you will also need the "multiverse" ones for non-free codecs.
Running Kubuntu 22.10 with Plasma 5.26.3, Frameworks 5.100.0, Qt 5.15.6, kernel 5.19.0-23 on Ryzen 5 4600H, AMD Renoir, X11
FWIW: it's always useful to state the exact Plasma version (+ distribution) when asking questions, makes it easier to help ... |
