You need to install the XFree-devel package.

Thanks for your help but now I get this error

checking for extra includes... no
checking for extra libs... no
checking for libz... configure: error: not found.
Possibly configure picks up an outdated version
installed by XFree86. Remove it from your system.

Check your installation and look into config.log

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Hi, you've basically got a linux install that is completely unprepared for installing from source! This is OK; it was exactly the same for me when I installed Linux for the first time.

You need to install either libz or libz-devel. You will probably have to install a lot of these "basic" packages before the install will work. But this is ok, you only need to install the basic ones once.

Next time you install Linux, install it with lots of development packages. Or run a distro like Arch, Gentoo or Slackware that doesn't have a distinction between the two types of package.

Good luck!

Max

I'm sort of in the same boat. I try to compile it and I get the following:

[code:1]checking for Qt... configure: error: Qt (>= Qt 3.2) (library qt-mt) not found. Please check your installation!
For more details about this problem, look at the end of config.log.
Make sure that you have compiled Qt with thread support!
protos:/home/pailhead/Documents/My Downloads/amarok/amarok-1.0.1 #[/code:1]

I've installed qt3-devel, qt3-devel-32bit, qt3-devel-tools

I'm also running SuSE 9.1 64bit., if that makes a difference..

Thanks for any help..

-Jason
