I downloaded and installed amaroK-1.1-CVS and loaded my music collection. Any song I play, with any of the three available engines, does not start. The OSD window shows up but the counter/timer never begins counting up and I never hear anything. With amaroK-1.1-beta1, the first half second of the song plays over and over again and the application becomes unresponsive. This is also engine agnostic, although aRts isn't available with this release. All the relavent libraries are installed for the three engines. xine-lib was already installed for DVD playback, I currently use Rhythmbox so Gstreamer was installed, and aRts installed with my installation of KDE 3.3. I really like the looks of this project--I use Rhythmbox like I said and I am excited by the possibility of a native KDE application to manage my music. Oh, yeah. If I run amaroK from the console and play a song, this is printed repeatedly to stdout:
stream == 0! what does that mean?! Thanks for any help, Andrew Barr |

Never mind --
It appears there were problems with my aRts and/or Gstreamer configs. The only problem I'm having now is that kicker sometimes crashes when amaroK exits, but I can deal with that for now. Thanks anyway, Andrew |
