I'm using Enlightened Sound Daemon with aRts for my audio in KDE. I have no problems with playback, but does anyone know how I can sync my visualizations with the audio? ESD has a buffer delay that isn't compensated for with the visualization. If there is no solution, what other options are there in KDE that will allow for vis/audio sync?
Thanks, Dave |

I would suggest not using ESD with Artsd. Whats the point of using both? Does artsd output to ESD or the other way around?
You could use straight artsd, gstreamer (which can output to artsd if thats important to you, mine goes directly to ALSA) or xine. |

Thanks for the suggestions. I had artsd setup to output to esd, but only because I had problems setting up audio any other way in kde.
I tried switching over to g-streamer, but amarok kept crashing when I tried any of the output plugins. In order to change back to artsd, I had to edit the amarokrc accordingly to avoid lockups. Next I tried the xine engine, and to my surprise it worked! Vis/Audio sync too, and I'm finally detached from the dreadful kde sound server configuration. |
