Hi,
I have amaroK 1.1.1-5 (updated from 1.1-2) installed on my SuSE 9.1 machine from RPMs. Sometimes it works fine, but often crashes when loading, causing a signal 11 (SIGSEGV). From a shell, I get the following: [code:1]niall@linux:~> amarok [amaroK loader] connecting to /home/niall/.kde/socket-linux/amarok.loader_socket [amaroK loader] amaroK not running. Trying to start it.. amarok: [PluginManager] Plugin trader constraint: [X-KDE-amaroK-framework-version] == 3 and [X-KDE-amaroK-plugintype] == 'engine' and [X-KDE-amaroK-name] == 'void-engine' and [X-KDE-amaroK-rank] > 0 amarok: [PluginManager] Trying to load: libamarok_void-engine_plugin amarok: amarok: PluginManager Service Info: amarok: --------------------------- amarok: name : amarok: library : libamarok_void-engine_plugin amarok: desktopEntryPath : amarok_void-engine_plugin.desktop amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-plugintype : engine amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-name : void-engine amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-authors : (Max Howell,Mark Kretschmann) amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-rank : 1 amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-version : 1 amarok: X-KDE-amaroK-framework-version: 3 amarok: KCrash: Application 'amarok' crashing... [amaroK loader] timed out trying to contact amaroK. [amaroK loader] exiting.[/code:1] When it works, it works well, with arts. I'm trying to get gstreamer working, which I have installed with its plugins and amarok-gstreamer, and I've run 'gst-register', giving: [code:1]niall@linux:~> gst-register trying to load global_registry error loading global_registry added path /opt/gnome/lib/gstreamer-0.8 to user_registry rebuilding user_registry (/home/niall/.gstreamer-0.8/registry.xml) added plugin[/code:1] which isn't good enough for amaroK. Any ideas about either of these problems, or anything else I could try? Thanks! |

I\'ve never been able to use Gstreamer engine at all!
Everytime I configure it and press play ... Kabumm .. it crashes right away! And Arts was always glitchy ... I hate arts so I use xine-engine .... |

Why the frown? xine is good. You don\'t want to hurt mxcl\'s feelings.
