amarok on suse 9.1 personal

Tue Nov 09, 2004 2:46 pm
What version of kde do you need to run amarok 1.1?
I have suse 9.1 personal with kde 3.2.
I am running amarok 0.9 but when I try install 1.1 it complains about kde 3.3 libs.

Any help appreciated.

amaroK 1.1.1 depends on KDE 3.2 according to the docs. Perhaps you using a binary of amaroK that depends on 3.3. You could try installing from source or finding a binary more suited to your system.

Yes, you would either have to upgrade to 3.3 from the suse website (its very easy) using the provided packages, or compile from source.

I can\'t compile from source as it says it requires libvisual 0.2.0 .... in the official libvisual site, the last version to download is 0.1.7 ...

I think this is toooo strange .. requiring a version that\'s not even published? why?

See ya!

well, amarok 1.2 isn\'t really published either.

You don\'t need libvisual at all to compile amaroK, so its not really a problem.

I\'ve just compiled Amarok 1.2 beta 1
It\'s works fine.
I have Suse 9.1 personal with kde 3.3.1
I only use the arts-engine

You need taglib 1.3
