I keep all my mp3s on my server and use NFS to stream them. It turns out that using MySQL as database backend doesn\'t work. It seems that Amarok only manages to insert the mp3 info for mp3s that\'s hosted on the same machine where Amarok runs.

Hi,
I added a folder that is mounted via NFS and contains MP3s to my collection. Then it scanned all the folders and the MP3s in the new folder appeared in the collection. After that I played them and had no problems at all. I\'m using recent amaroK CVS what release do you use? BTW: I don\'t think this has something to do with MySQL at all, because that\'s just the way to store the information where to find your music. Regards, Andreas |

Hi amair
First of all, I\'m using Amarok 1.2-beta1. I know it doesn\'t have anything to do with MySQL. What I was suspecting, using the well established method of wild guesswork, was that when scanning for the mp3s it only adds mp3s from the local filesystems. (Kind of the same way that you can\'t access NFS files over ftp. Not with proftpd, at least.) Anyway, I\'m just guessing here. The result was, however, that the NFS-based mp3s did not get added to the collection while the mp3s hosted on the local filesystem got added as expected. (This worked just fine-ish with SQLite, and I\'m still able to play all the music just fine.) Maybe I should try the latest CVS version? Thanks for answering so promptly, and thanks for a plugin that I\'ve been longing after for quite a while! --Thomas |

I found the error. It turned out that I had to delete the database, and let amarok create it itself. Now it works as advertised.
